Meet Rev. Joseph L. Kitchen, President of Young Democrats of Maryland

Engaging students and families in their own education

Reverend Joseph Kitchen – a native of Fresno, California, is first elected as President of Young Democrats of Maryland (YDM) in 2013.  Since his election, he has emerged as an up-and-coming political activist in Prince George’s County, where he currently resides.

Kitchen is an ordain minister in the Southern Baptist Church and also an active member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Md.  He works full time as an assistant principal at a private middle school in D.C.’s Anacostia neighborhood.

In addition to being the President of YDM, he serves as assistant treasurer for the NAACP’s Prince George’s County chapter, serves on the Executive Committee on the Maryland Democratic Party, and is a member of the board of First Book .D.C., a national group that promotes reading skills for underprivileged children.

Meet Kory Boone, Chairman of the Maryland Young Republicans

Kory is a native of Prince George’s County, Maryland and has been an I.T. professional for over ten years. After graduating from Central High School in Capitol Heights, Maryland, he later attended Tennessee State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.

Kory then returned home to work for Prince George’s County Public Schools as an I.T. Technician. Four years ago, Kory began becoming active in politics through the DC Young Republicans. In 2013, Kory was elected to the executive board and served as the Communications Chair.

The following year, Kory was also appointed to the Prince George’s County Central Committee and ran for State Senate in District 25. The following year, Kory was elected chairman of the Maryland Young Republicans, and currently serving the 2nd year of his first term.
